Acer F900 – Windows Mobile smartphone review
Acer launched a whole collection of Tempo branded smartphones at Mobile World Congress in February and now the devices are trickling into UK retailers as SIM-free only options.
Top 10 productivity apps feature to make your choice. Battery life on the Acer F900 is average. Although you won't need to charge it every day, medium-weight users will have to charge after two days. As with most smartphones these days, those who make a lot of calls, receive lots of emails through push or spend a lot of time using apps will have to charge every day. The Acer F900 is a reasonably priced smartphone when compared to others with the same specs such as the HTC Touch HD that is almost double the price when purchased SIM free. The Acer Shell does leave a lot to be desired if you're looking for a serious smartphone with an easy to use interface, but it's more pleasing to use compared to the standard Windows Mobile interface.
Verdict
The Acer F900 is a good-looking handset. But, while the screen and specs are good, a capacitance screen is missed, and the Acer Shell won’t cut it for serious users. As such, while it is reasonable value, it doesn’t offer quite enough to set it apart from longer standing manufacturers such as HTC.
