Panel Profile: Aller Group CIO Michael Enk
We get face-to-face with one of the IT Pro Panellists

The world of publishing is at a cross-roads; with the digital revolution well and truly established, old-school media brands are adjusting their attitudes, strategies and behaviours in order to fend off younger, digital-native challengers.
IT is an essential part of effectively dealing with this threat, both for internal efficiencies and effective content delivery. Michael Enk is the man in charge of running IT for Danish publishing group Aller, publisher of popular magazines like Familie Journal, Søndag and Femina.
Michael previously worked for Deloitte as a freelance CIO - similar to fellow IT Pro Panellist Patricio Colombo - and has spent more than six years as Aller’s group CIO.

Group CIO - Aller
Describe your role in 20 words or fewer.
I’m the Group CIO within a Nordic media company, which publishes a number of magazines and weeklies.
What was your first computer?
Like many, I used to have a Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48K.
What do you like most about working in IT?
I’d say my favourite thing is the constant change - there’s never a dull moment.
If you could magically get rid of one piece of technology forever, what would it be, and why?
Printers, for sure. They never work, they are too much work to maintain and the acquisition of printers is just filled with pitfalls.
What future tech innovations are you most excited about?
AI and AR
Who’s your biggest inspiration in the world of tech?
No-one specific; I read and follow many. Jeff Bezos is maybe the most interesting person at the moment due to how he has transformed our lives by using technology to make thing easier for us, and also how he uses this to enable other types of businesses.
