Dell XPS 13 review
Beautiful, high-resolution Windows ultrabook takes on the MacBook Pro
The laptop isn't particularly suitable for non-authorised repair; it's very tightly packaged and while you might be able to remove the bottom of the device to gain access to the innards, we wouldn't recommend it.
You get one year of Dell's excellent one-working day on-site repair warranty, which can be extended to up to three years. You also get a year of McAfee's LiveSafe security suite, although this software can be rather naggy and can affect system performance.
Storage comes in the form of a 256GB SSD in this model, while the top specification XPS 13 gets a 512GB SSD for 150 more. It's high performance storage, although the lack of capacity may be a problem for users who have yet to embrace the cloud and store many of their larger files locally.
The Dell XPS 13 is one of the slickest, most stylish ultrabooks we've seen in years. It's powerful, too, meaning you'll never be short on processing performance when you need it. The only reservation we have is caused by the screen, particularly the backlight leakage and Windows 8.1's poor way of scaling applications. Nonetheless, if you're looking for a fast, light and powerful laptop for business and pleasure, there are very few laptops more suitable than the Dell XPS 13.
If you want the performance and desirability of a MacBook Pro but need to run Windows, the Dell XPS 13 is the laptop for you
