Miryem Salah, chief data officer and head of digital, transformation & IT Hubs at Vodafone Business UK, explains why Vodafone is so passionate about creating local, expert-driven services to transform IT support for millions of SMBs across the UK.

Firstly, what are Vodafone Business IT Hubs?

Vodafone Business IT Hubs are a new network of managed service providers (MSPs) located across the UK, offering a one-stop-shop for IT and communications support to small and medium businesses in their local areas.

What will these Hubs offer?

Each Hub will cover a territory offering outsourced end-to-end IT and communications managed services, including end-user desktop and laptop support, server and application support, and connectivity and security support.

The Hubs are limited companies trading under the Vodafone brand, and will employ their own local technicians, account managers and engineers. They will sell a portfolio of products and services from Vodafone and other world-class vendors, enabled by our platform.

Why are you so keen to offer this service through local Hubs rather than existing small business teams?

It’s impossible to overestimate the importance of local knowledge and knowing your community in building a successful small business. We bring a lot in terms of product, marketing and finance expertise and support as a global brand, but we can’t be experts on every local community and the businesses that make them thrive.

That’s where local IT experts come in – it allows for a more personal touch which is what really allows relationships to grow. This is why we think this service will be special and different.

Why do you think this service will be popular with SMBs?

We know that business owners need to prioritise serving their customers and growing their business; in a busy world this doesn’t always leave the time or the resource to keep on top of their IT estate. Having a local one-stop-shop available will make it easier for them to access the IT support they need at a price they can afford. The Hubs offer tailored solutions and support depending on the size and needs of a business and so are suitable for a range of organisations.

What are you looking for in potential franchisees?

We’re looking for experienced IT professionals and budding entrepreneurs who want to start their own business – does this sound like an opportunity you would be interested in? We know that there are lots of brilliant people out there who might be worried about taking the leap without brand backing, so we’d love you to join us on what we believe will be an exciting journey.

How many partners are you looking for?

We’re looking for over 300 franchisees to set up Vodafone Business IT Hubs with us across the UK – we’ve got ambitious plans for 2024 and beyond and we’d love to have you on board.

What are the advantages to franchisees of partnering with Vodafone?

We think the big advantage for our franchisees is the brand support we can offer beyond our name. That means we’ll take care of centralised marketing campaigns to help you grow your customer base, negotiate with world-class vendors on your behalf to provide the best-possible portfolio of products for SMBs. We’ll handle the billing side of things too, leaving you to do what you do best in your local business community without having to worry so much about the admin and risk of running a small business alone.

But you don’t have to take our word for it. We asked our prospects, why he chose to set up a Vodafone Business IT Hub, and he told us: “I wanted to run my own business and be my own boss, but with the backing of a major global brand behind me – I love getting out into my local community with the people I know and really making a difference to their businesses”.

What would you say to people who might be worried about starting their own IT business?

Come and talk to us! We need your skills, experience, and local connections, and in return we’ll give you the opportunity to be your own boss with our support. It’s going to be an exciting journey and we’d love to have you on board.
