In a recent study of email-based threats by Hornetsecurity, nearly 41% of 25 billion emails received were categorised as “unwanted”, with nearly 95% of these considered as spam, and the final 5% malicious.
It’s clear from this report that phishing is still the preferred method for email cyber attacks, and in spite of this, companies that utilise cloud services - like Microsoft 365 - for their data consider themselves immune from ransomware threats.
