Capgemini is extending its contract with Croydon Council for another five years and 83 million, the IT services group confirmed.
As part of its programme to transform local government services, Capgemini will be supporting Croydon Council's IT and telecommunications infrastructure and networks.
Capgemini's remit will involve supporting nearly 4,000 desktop computers and Corydon Council's key business applications, which includes finance, procurement and customer services. They will also provide consultancy expertise.
It's estimated that Capgemini's services will cost Croydon Council 83 million until the contract expires in 2013.
Capgemini has been working on Croydon Council's transformation programme since 2003 under a Private Finance Initiative. The extension to the collaborative contract will make it one of the longest-running in UK local government history.
Capgemini's business development manager Lee Hatt said the extension of the contract was due in part to great teamwork.
"This is a vote of confidence for Capgemini's relationship with Croydon. Our achievements over the past five years of our partnership with Croydon are the result of great teamwork with Council employees at all levels."
