LaCie launches small business server
The lower end of the market will get a taste of France with LaCie’s latest offering.
Today sees the launch of French-based LaCie's latest product the 5big backup server.
Aimed at the small business market, the LaCie 5big backup server is powered by Windows Home Server. It can support up to 10 PCs or 25 Mac computers and is also compatible with Time Machine.
The five bay box runs on an Intel's 1.6GHz D410 processor and has both USB and eSATA ports for connectivity. It can handle up to 10TB of storage in the hot-swappable bays and will be shipping fully populated with either 1TB or 2TB drives.
"For small businesses, backing up data is vital," Erwan Girard, business unit manager at LaCie, told We Got Served.
"Until now, storage solutions that efficiently protect and manage heterogeneous environments have been cumbersome, cost-prohibitive and difficult to configure. LaCie has partnered with industry-leading companies to provide a full-featured professional backup server that will automatically configure and back up PCs and Mac computers for a fraction of the cost."
The suggested retail price in the UK is around 890 and the product is available to buy today.
