Renewable energy: What works and what's on the way?
How zero-carbon technology is now attracting M&A interest

Wind and solar are fast-becoming the renewable energies of choice in countries across the globe. But both of these resources still require significant technological advancements and investment in energy storage and distribution to compensate for their inherent intermittency.
Nuclear and hydro-power offer alternative energy sources that don’t generate CO2 and don’t have the same continuity problems, though these too have drawbacks, including the potential environmental impact of each.
Carbon capture and storage technologies have the potential to de-carbonise fossil-fuel, biomass and waste-to-energy power. Advances in battery storage and grid technology with ground source heat pumps are also creating opportunities in the energy mix as they can be applied as part of an integrated approach to CO2-free energy solutions.
