CA updates Cloud Commons Ecosystem
The software firm adds new features and partners to extend its reach into the cloud.
CA Technologies today unveiled updates to its Cloud Commons Ecosystem, aiming to offer more variety of services and partners to its customers.
It is adding 20 software products to its Cloud Commons Marketplace to boost process automation capabilities, along with other offerings in the areas of managed services, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS).
As well as these public cloud products, CA has also launched a new range of appliances for those running CA AppLogic clouds internally, including hardware to run its CA ARCserve software, CA Service Catalog, CA Oblicore Guarantee software, CA Service Desk Manager and CA Software Change Manager.
“As the depth and breadth of the ecosystem reaches critical mass, we’re now realising our vision for a self-sustaining collaborative community, development site and e-commerce marketplace for all things cloud,” said Brian Burba, vice president of solutions management at CA.
“The Cloud Commons Ecosystem has broken down the barriers to entry for software vendors, service providers and end users that want to aggregate, provide, or consume cloud services through a true e-commerce engine spanning CA Technologies and third-party cloud solutions, platforms and providers.”
The company hasn’t focused just on its own products and has brought more partners on-board to extend customer’s ability to take on independent software.
These include BirdHosting, Cirrhus9 and DNS Europe, as well as Dome9’s recently launched SaaS security aimed at businesses storing their data in the cloud.

“We’re excited to join the growing set of services available in the Cloud Commons Ecosystem,” said Dave Meizlik, vice president of marketing and business development at Dome9.
“Most cloud servers have security stacks left orphaned because they’re otherwise unmanageable. Together with CA Technologies, Dome9 will deliver centralised and automated cloud security management across all servers and clouds.”
The Cloud Commons Ecosystem began in May 2010 and the Marketplace launched last November, now boasting more than 500 members as part of its Developer Studio.
