Informatica Cloud PaaS gets an update

Data integration software company Informatica announced the release of the latest version of its Informatica Cloud PaaS offering.

The Informatica Cloud Spring 2012 PaaS sports the new Informatica Cloud Developer Edition, which it said brings together a cloud connector toolkit and dynamic cloud integration templates to enable developers to embed end-user customisable integration logic and connectivity into cloud apps using the product.

The Developer Edition enables SIs and ISVs to build, customise and deliver native connectivity to any cloud or on-premise business and social applications that have published Web Services APIs.

The new Cloud Connector Toolkit allows developers to have access to a Java-based API to create connectors that run as sources or targets within Informatica Cloud. Developers can also make these connectors available on the Informatica Marketplace. Connectors now available on Informatica Marketplace include: Eloqua, LinkedIn, Microsoft Dynamics GP, Salesforce Chatter, Twitter, Yammer and Zuora.

The new release also introduces Cloud Integration Templates, which allow application developers and ISVs to design and run custom data workflows between applications in the cloud or on-premise, using Informatica Cloud. Application developers can use these templates to embed Informatica Cloud data integration functionality into their own cloud solutions.

It also has new features to allow migration between instances of Informatica Cloud to support object reuse, sandbox development and rapid implementation time. There is also support for version 24 of the Salesforce Web Services API.

Research analyst firm Gartner expects the adoption of integration platform as a service (iPaaS) to “grow significantly” over the next five years.

“IPaaS can provide a foundation for hybrid cloud computing, engaging old and new applications and data, on-premises and in the cloud. iPaaS is a key component of any comprehensive cloud application infrastructure offering and an essential requirement for future leadership in PaaS markets by any vendor,” Yefim Natis, vice president and distinguished analyst at Gartner.

The Developer Edition, which includes access to the Cloud Connector Toolkit and Cloud Integration Templates is available through an early access program with Informatica Cloud Spring 2012 on general release.
