Android users can now pay for apps and games on Google Play from their PayPal accounts. It has also extended developer sales support to new countries to enable them to sell content more widely.
Google has added support for PayPal for users making purchases in 12 countries, including the UK. Users will find PayPal as an option in their Google Wallet.
"Our goal is to provide users with a frictionless payment experience, and this new integration is another example of how we work with partners from across the payments industry to deliver this to the user," said Ibrahim Elbouchikhi, Google Play product manager in a blog post.
Google has also extended carrier billing from seven countries to 24, including Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan. It has also made Google Play gift cards available to a total of 13 countries, including Japan and Germany.
Developers based in 13 new countries can now sell apps on Google Play (with new additions such as Indonesia, Malaysia and Turkey), bringing the total to 45 countries with support for local developers. Google has also increased its buyer currency support to 28 new countries. It said this move would make it easier for developers to tailor pricing in 60 countries.
Google said developers won't have to make any adjustments to their accounts in order to receive payments, allowing them to carry on with creating apps.
