McAfee launch 10 Gigabit Ethernet IPS appliance
New intrusion prevention appliance aimed at network core and data centre deployments.
McAfee launched the latest version of its intrusion prevention system which it claimed is capable of 10 Gbps speeds.
The new IntruShield multi-gigabit M-Series platforms is designed for network core and data centre deployments as well as organisations with 10 Gigabit Ethernet networks.
the IntruShield 4010 has 12 Gigabit Ethernet detection ports and one Fast Ethernet management port, while the IntruShield 4000 sports four Gigabit Ethernet detection ports.
The platform also integrates the company's ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) application which allows security administrators to monitor host details, attacks on infrastructure and spyware events.
"Now that 10G Ethernet is widely deployed, customers need IPS solutions that can keep up, but it's not just about performance, customers are looking for network security solutions that are more actionable, integrated and efficient," said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst at Infonetics Research.
A recent report from Infonetics Research found that total security downtime costs for large organisations surpassed 15m and up to 2.2 per cent of annual revenue.
The appliance will be available this month. No details on pricing were given by the company.
