Dell and Brocade team up on data centre solutions

Dell and Brocade have announced that they are working together to deliver a combined computing, networking and storage solutions for data centres.

The partnership will see the release of a line of Dell-branded products with an emphasis on virtualisation compatibility and efficiency.

Brad Anderson, senior vice president of the Dell enterprise product group, said in a statement: "We are extending our Brocade relationship beyond storage into the broader data centre Both companies share a vision that next-generation, virtualised data centers should be open and standards-based."

One product from the new partnership is the Brocade Data Centre Fabric Manager. This enables an entire data centre to be managed centrally.

The product line will also include Fibre Channel (FC) host bus adapters and converged network adapters, Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) switches and Converged Enhanced Ethernet (CEE) switching products.

Marc Randall, senior vice president of Brocade Products and Offerings, added in a statement: "This agreement provides customers with a cost-effective, high-performance, and reliable choice to address the demands of evolving enterprise data centres."

The new products will be available by the end of the year.

IBM also boosted its ties with Brocade this summer to resell its FCoE switches, as well as becoming an OEM for networking firm Juniper.
