City Uni launches IT consultancy masters degree
London university offers new masters course for established IT professionals.
City University London will be offering a new course from September this year, aimed at boosting IT professionals' mid-career development.
The university describes the MSc in IT Consultancy as "an intensive, demanding course for those who want to excel in senior positions." It will cover both risk assessment and skills for identifying strategic opportunities.
As the two-year course is targeted at established professionals, classes will be part-time and limited to 10 students.
"IT consultancy attracts professionals from a wide range of backgrounds many have a technical grounding, while others come from accountancy, business and management disciplines," said
course director Dr George Buchanan.
"Our aim with this course is to enable professionals with around five years' experience to formalise their current expertise, while gaining new professional and technical skills to step up to leading consultancy or change or project management positions."
The MSc in IT Consultancy is the newest tech-based course added to the university's postgraduate curriculum. It joins the well-established Master of Information Leadership (MIL) aimed at providing training for chief information officers (CIOs) and another new Masters course, the MSc in Information Security and Risk.
