Fintech companies are the most sought after by job hunters on LinkedIn, according to the company's annual list of top UK startups.

The rankings are based upon the data of 27 million UK members, looking at actions such as job searches and company page views.

Seven digital financial firms made up the top ten with mobile challenger bank Monzo taking the top spot for a third straight year.

"Our employees are essential to Monzo's continued success and we are delighted to have topped Linkedin's Top Startups list for the third year running," said Libby Townsend, chief people officer at Monzo Bank.

"Over the last year, the number of employees at Monzo has increased from 400 to over 1,300. They are based in our offices in London, Cardiff, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and remotely all over the world and help make money work for over 2.8 million customers every day."

Making up the financial startups, peer-to-peer digital bank Revolut came in second, jumping up from third in 2018. Mobile-only firm Starling bank came in fourth, jumping up from 18. Similarly, 11:FS, another digital challenger bank, came in at seven having reached 19 in 2018. In ninth and tenth, finishing the banking entries, were Tide Business Banking and digital card Curve, both making debuts on the list.

Other debuts included The Goat Agency, a marketing agency for influencers, and Formula E Holdings, an electric car racing series. LinkedIn put Formula E's ranking down to professionals seeking out roles at eco-conscious companies.

"Our Top Startups list shows that the fintech industry continues to thrive and displays no signs of slowing down anytime soon," said Katie Carroll, UK managing editor at LinkedIn.

"It's also fantastic to see the sector developing and new fintech startups entering this year's list, alongside other fresh entries such as Formula E. It's certainly no surprise to us that LinkedIn members are applying for jobs at a raft of such innovative, exciting companies".
