Qnap TVS-1271U-RP review
You’re spoilt for choice with Qnap’s latest rack NAS appliance

The TVS-1271U-RP offers a big hardware spec at a competitive price and an unbeatable expansion potential. However, real world performance is average and the top model on review is best suited to hardware intensive apps such as Qnap’s Virtualization Station.

Noisy fans; Supports read cache only; Average real world speeds

Common features
Whether you opt for a Pentium or Core i7, you'll find many features are common across them all. The motherboard presents four USB 3 and four USB 2 ports at the rear and the HDMI port alongside links up with Qnap's QvPC technology.
The price includes dual hot-plug PSUs while internal cooling is handled by three cold-swap fans. However, these are noisy enough to make this appliance a poor choice for small offices that value tranquillity.
Qnap's optional dual-port SAS PCI-e card unlocks a truly massive expansion potential. It supports up to eight REXP-1600U-RP 16-bay disk enclosures and with Hitachi's freshly certified 8TB helium drives, you can push total raw capacity to over 1PB.
The Storage Manager app handles all disk storage, read cache and encrypted volume configuration
