Q&A: Josko Grljevic, thetrainline.com
We speak to the IS director at thetrainline.com - and a member of the IT Pro Leaderboard - about his what his role involves.

Describe your role in three words.
Exhilarating, challenging, spin-on-a-dime.
Who is your tech hero? And why?
This is a difficult one. I admire anyone who has the vision, guts and drive to challenge the status quo and shape the future. Steve Jobs and Jeff Bezos are included in that mix.
What does your current role involve?
I'm responsible for operations, infrastructure, security and architecture. My role involves the running all of these functions but, most importantly, the challenge is to always provide the best possible product/solution and experience to our customers in a constantly changing consumer market.

I was approached by thetrainline.com to take on the role three years ago and I haven't looked back.
Did you always want to work in IT?
No actually. I studied Marine Biology at university and had absolutely no intention of working in IT. Great career planning on my part.
What do you enjoy most about your role/working in IT?
Technology has become integral in almost all of our social and work interactions and its influence will only continue to grow.
Most people would probably tell you that access to the internet is worthy of a slot on Maslow's hierarchy of needs. The ability to interact and reach out to so many people is incredible especially when you consider that technology is facilitating many of the social and cultural changes in society. Who wouldn't want to be part of that change!?
