Samsung prototypes OneDRAM fusion memory chip
The electronics supremo's prototype is good news for mobile phone fans with the need for speed
Samsung has created a prototype fusion memory chip, capable of making mobile phones five times faster, which should start appearing in handsets by the middle of next year.
The new OneDRAM technology also uses a dual-port approach to beef up the speed at which mobile applications can process data.
Additionally, the new 133MHz, 512MB chip slashes power consumption by 30 per cent, reduces overall chip requirements and halves the amount of space needed, in accordance with the JEDEC low power double-data-rate (LPDDR) memory standard.
The new OneDRAM chip won't just be limited to mobile phones.
