Bing taking market share from Google and Yahoo

Bing search engine

Microsoft's search engine Bing has boosted its market share and it's adding to its bit of the pie by stealing slivers from Google, Yahoo and Ask.

Launched last month to solid reviews, Bing quickly grabbed a five per cent share of the search market. Many speculated that its market share was a result of the media coverage surrounding the launch, and that Bing's piece of the pie would shrink over time, according to statistics from Net Applications.

However, it's now holding a 5.3 per cent share, keeping it solidly in third place, behind Google at 81.2 per cent and Yahoo at 9.2 per cent.

According to Net Applications: "From May to June, Google shows a 0.3 per cent drop, Yahoo shows a 0.17 per cent drop, and Ask shows a 0.1 per cent drop in usage share."

Bing briefly pipped Yahoo at the beginning of last month, but soon slipped back into third.
