ARM has unveiled a new alliance of 35 tech firms to speed up the use of devices using Google's Android operating system.
Dubbed the Solution Centre for Android, it aims to help designers and developers working on smartphones and netbooks using ARM chips to use the open source OS.
"As we have seen through the recent launches of handsets such as Motorola's Droid and Acer's Liquid, the Android platform represents a fundamental change in the open source ecosystem," said Kevin Smith, ARM's vice president of segment marketing, in a statement.
Firms taking part include manufacturers as well as Archos, Texas Instruments and Wipro.
