Desktop virtualisation is a mature technology now, and still finds ways to improve. It's also very broad and scaleable, and virtualisation is providing quicker and more straightforward solutions to a growing range of challenges, adapting particularly to the changing way that people work, and interact with technology.
The current state of it? Healthy, and getting healthier. The challenge facing the market is to make the technology somewhere near as accessible as buying a computer off a shelf. To reduce the levels of expertise required to take advantage of virtualisation. And to continue to educate the market on the benefits. That work is already happening, of course. But there's still a bit of room for improvement
