Iomega has announced the UK launch of the company's ix2 StorCenter NAS unit.

The two-bay storage device is aimed at small businesses, work groups, remote offices and distributed enterprises.

The device is available in multiple configurations and was designed specifically for content sharing and data protection, as well as cloud computing and video surveillance applications.

Three models will be available at launch, with a starting price of 119 for the diskless version.

This will be followed next month with a single drive (1-3TB) version, and a fully populated device with up to 6TB of storage.

StorCenter also includes video surveillance capabilities for up to five IP cameras and a choice of cloud backup capability from Mozy, Amazon S3, EMC, and Iomega's Personal Cloud service.

The Personal Cloud has no further monthly cost attached to it.

The two-drive StorCenter ix2 uses a CD-less setup process with downloaded software that can have the unit up and running in minutes.

The StorCenter ix2 NAS uses EMC's LifeLine software, a fully-developed Linux operating environment that incorporates EMC storage technologies, which are usually only available to enterprise customers.

The Iomega StorCenter ix2 series includes a three-year limited warranty alongside phone support for up to 13 hours a day, five days a week. Optional service plans include Iomega's Enhanced Service Plan which includes round the clock phone support.
