Canonical has announced the introduction of two consulting packages to help enterprises adopt container technology without needing to recruit specialist in-house resources.

The two new packages - Kubernetes Explorer and Kubernetes Discoverer - will help businesses take advantage of containers safe in the knowledge their infrastructure and management workflows are being developed using best practice.

Kubernetes Explorer is a service for businesses using the container technology on a public or private cloud service or using VMWare. The reference architecture, including training and deployment, will cost $15,000 with workload analysis and the creation of CI/CD pipelines available as an optional extra.

Kubernetes Discoverer has been designed for businesses wanting to use on-premise infrastructure. It's a higher-priced package at $35,000, but includes in-house training, plus specialist consulting, tailored to the organisation's' particular needs. It's a much more customisable option for businesses with very specific requirements, with deep integration and customisation options available for more demanding applications.

"Organisations looking for best-practice Kubernetes now have a reference architecture and specialist consulting to operate K8s on any cloud, bare metal, or virtualisation," said Marco Ceppi, product manager for Kubernetes at Canonical.

"Canonical Kubernetes is transforming how our customers host scale out, cloud native workloads, with an emphasis on portability across public clouds and private infrastructure."

Canonical has partnered up with Galactic Fog to provide the serverless infrastructure, while Rancher will handle container management workflows with support from Weave Cloud from Weaveworks.

"The enterprise challenge is to enable containers across hybrid cloud environments," said Dustin Kirkland, VP Product at Canonical. "Canonical's cloud partnerships provide choice of cloud infrastructure with a consistently secure and efficient Kubernetes across multiple clouds."
