HPE has introduced Greenlake, a pay-per-use solution for its Big Data, backup, open database, SAP HANA, and edge computing products.

The ability to use these with the flexibility of GreenLake means businesses stay in control of their infrastructure while using cloud-based environments, reducing costs along the way, the company said.

Each implementation offers a number of benefits to organisations, including professional services, advice and monitoring delivered via HPE Pointnext, purpose-built reference architectures and support from an HPE Digital Learner subscription alongside the company's pay-per-use HPE GreenLake Flex Capacity model.

HPE GreenLake Big Data offers the company's Hadoop data lake offering on HPE's latest software, integrated with Hortonworks or Cloudera software, while HPE GreenLake Backup means businesses can take advantage of the company's on-premise backup services using Commvault software working alongside HPE's metering technology. It also offers management services to help run it.

HPE GreenLake Database with EDB Postgres is again delivered on-premise, but built upon open source technologies to make it easier for businesses to manage their infrastructure, with reduced cost of ownership.

HPE GreenLake for SAP HANA comprises an on-premises HPE appliance and SAP-certified hardware, operating system and services, while the company's HPE GreenLake Edge Compute solution offers the lifecycle framework to boost a company's IoT efforts.

"Building on the leadership and success of consuming infrastructure with HPE GreenLake Flex Capacity, we are taking the next step in consumption," said Ana Pinczuk, SVP and GM of HPE Pointnext.

"HPE GreenLake offers an experience that is the best of both worlds a simple, pay-per-use technology model with the risk management of data that's under the customer's direct control."
