Symantec has partnered with Microsoft to offer businesses an extra layer of security to the Microsoft Azure platform.

The offering makes use of Symantec's Web Security Service, which protects Microsoft Azure users against data leaks and assures better compliance with highly regulated industries by protecting corporate access to and use of the network.

Businesses are able to move their entire network stack to the cloud, without worrying their data will fall into the wrong hands. It offers a secure connection to the internet alongside connected software and services such as Office 365 at a lower cost compared to other security stacks.

“Symantec and Microsoft continue to share a commitment to online security,” said Sheila Jordan, Symantec senior vice president and CIO. “Through our efforts, we are bringing world-class security solutions to Azure to help customers realize the speed, flexibility and capacity of cloud computing while staying protected against today’s evolving threats.”

Symantec has employed its Global Intelligence Network to ensure threats are always kept up to date, in real-time. It also supports content peering and Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) connection acceleration, which not only enhances increased security, but offers a better user experience too.

“The collaboration between Microsoft and Symantec brings together advanced network security and intelligent cloud infrastructure,” said Scott Guthrie, executive vice president, Microsoft Cloud and Enterprise Group.

“Symantec’s full suite of security and compliance controls complement our broad set of Azure security solutions to provide customers with an ideal, trusted cloud platform.
