Google now offering Red Hat's OpenShift containers

Red Hat has announced its Openshift Dedicated service will soon be available on Google's Cloud Platform, allowing organisations to utilise Kubernetes and Openshift containers, alongside data capabilities.

The open source container management system means developers will be able to start experimenting with containers in a familiar environment, helping them to boost productivity and better manage their workflows.

Workloads can be adjusted as needs change, thanks to the flexible nature of Google's Cloud Platform, ensuring the resources are available when they are needed and that developers always have access to their application regardless of where the container is deployed.

Additionally, Red Hat's OpenShift Dedicated offers enhanced security, giving developers peace of mind their containerised applications are developed, deployed and maintained on validated and protected platforms.

Red Hat OpenShift Dedicated is supported on both hybrid and cloud-only environments, making it easy to implement for all types of organisations, whatever their infrastructure, the company claims.

"With the increasing breadth and maturity of Google Cloud Platform’s offerings, we’re getting better and better at complementing and integrating with on premise enterprise infrastructure," Google said in a statement.

"Our expanding relationship with Red Hat makes this especially true for enterprise-focused developers in need of stable, more secure and open source solutions that include Google’s cloud services and global infrastructure footprint.

Google is also hoping to integrate Red Hat OpenShift Dedicated with its full suite of cloud-based services including Big Data, analytics and storage, in order to allow Red Hat customers to access the company's entire fleet of services.
