TechWomen50 Awards releases 100-strong shortlist
Women in tech shortlist recognises the achievements of techies across Britain
Techies at the likes of Amazon, IBM and the Minister of Justice have made the shortlist for the TechWomen50 2017 awards, released today.
Celebrating the impact of women in tech paving the way for future generations, the TechWomen50 shortlist features female scrum masters, software developers, java coders and more.
WeAreTechWomen, the organisation behind the awards, whittled down the 100 shortlisted women from 500 nominations across the UK and Northern Ireland.
Baroness Joanna Shields OBE, the prime minister's special representative on internet safety, said: "Platforms such as the TechWomen50 Awards are so important to continue the tech industry's mission for gender parity.
"These awards shine a light on up and coming emerging talent for the IT sector to see, hire and retain value."
Shortlisted women include Carol Morris, cloud business engagement lead at Barclays, Diane Reddell, junior software developer at the Department for Work and Pensions, and Dionne Condor-Farrell, senior developer at Transport for London.
Kayleigh Bateman, head of WeAreTechWomen, said: "Over the course of my career, I have seen some truly talented and inspirational women who have been recognised by a multitude of awards.

"However, there is not one awards series that focuses on the next generation of female talent as a whole, or those who support those individuals. Our hope is that by recognising not just our shortlist of 100, but also those that champion women in tech too, we can encourage more organisations to follow their lead."
The TechWomen50 Awards, which are sponsored by Worldpay, SAP, Verizon and others, and partnered by IT Pro, are now open to a public vote here, with the finalists to be announced on 11 December.
