Cisco has released a security advisory detailing flaws in its IOS software, which is used on the majority of the company's routers and network switches.

The networking company's routers and switches are commonly used in enterprise, and the security advisories range from securing against Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerabilities to avoiding Mobile IP, TCP and UDP vulnerabilities.

Cisco has released free software updates to address the vulnerabilities.

It said that prior to deploying the software, customers should consult their maintenance provide, or check the software for feature set compatibility and known issues specific to their environment.

Like Microsoft and Patch Tuesday', Cisco has a regular publication schedule for IOS security advisories, with the next advisory scheduled for the fourth Wednesday of September.

Cisco said that it adopted the approach in response to extensive feedback from customers, who wanted predictability in support planning and deployment cycles.
