EMC has announced it has acquired Configuresoft for an undisclosed sum.

The statement has come just a week after its EMC World 2009 conference in Orlando, Florida.

Configuresoft is a software company focusing on compliance management and server configuration. It has been an OEM partner of EMC since 2008, but when the deal closes it will become part of the Resource Management Software Group (RMSG).

Chris Gahagan, senior vice president for RMSG at EMC, said: "Customers are looking for new tools and processes to help them more effectively manage the virtualised data centre."

"Server configuration and change management are among the top challenges faced by IT [and] with Configuresoft, we're gaining market-leading server configuration management solutions."

Alex Goldstein, chief executive of Configuresoft, said: "Becoming part of EMC is the right move at the right time giving us the financial and technology resources of a proven leader in information management to take our market leading solutions to the next level."

Although the deal is likely to close in June, EMC has stated it doesn't expect the acquisition to make an impact on revenue for fiscal year 2009.
