Hundreds of technology jobs at some of the UK's biggest companies will be up for grabs during a one-day event hosted by online recruitment specialist Indeed.

The likes of BT, Deloitte and HSBC will be among the firms looking for tech talent during the 'Tech Needs Her" event on Tuesday 29 June.

The employers taking part in the event, which also includes AXA, BAE Systems, RS Components and more, will be offering entry-level positions, such as junior software developers, through to more senior roles including head of operations and senior software developer.

There will be around 300 jobs up for grabs across England, Scotland and Wales, according to Indeed, with the employment firm suggesting that some candidates might even be hired on the day. Deloitte will be offering the most roles with 44 positions up for grabs, while BT and HSBC will be offering 28 and 30 positions, respectively.

The event is open to everyone, but the employers taking part are "keen" to encourage women and candidates from minority ethnic backgrounds to apply.

Indeed’s National Hiring Day will use a virtual platform that allows attendees to book their own interview slots, meet the employers via video link, and even wait for their appointment in a virtual 'lobby'. The idea is that candidates can use the service to find times that suit their needs.

"Our first National Hiring Day last year was a runaway success with more than 700 people moving straight to interviewing, reducing the time it takes to get a job," said Deepa Somasundari, senior director of strategic projects at Indeed. "This time around we're focusing on the tech sector with an emphasis on encouraging women and people from underrepresented groups to apply to help address diversity imbalances.

"Hiring Events like this make it easier for employers to connect with job seekers from all backgrounds living all over the UK. Because the interviews are virtual, qualified candidates can meet prospective employers safely and from the comfort of their own home, enabling employers to reach a deeper and more diverse pool of talent."
