The CLOUD Act (Clarifying Lawful Overseas Use of Data) means that US companies are required to disclose any personal or company data that is stored or processed outside of the US without a court order. Those companies in Europe that are part of a US company - or any that exchanges data with the US - are also subject to this act.
This CLOUD Act, in targeting all data in addition to personal data, goes against EU GDPR so some companies now have the dilemma of either violating the CLOUD Act or GDPR.
