Every year some businesses hit the end of their device cycle and begin to evaluate new laptops that can meet the needs of their workforce and unlock new opportunities.

This year there’s added pressure. With Windows 10 end of life having passed and 37.59% of desktop Windows users yet to adopt Windows 11 per Statcounter data, many business leaders are evaluating which devices will get their workforce over the line to the latest version of Windows.

This is where Dell Pro comes in, with the specs and portability needed to equip your workforce – from executives to shift workers – with the hardware needed to get the job done.

These AI-enabled PCs, complete with new designs to improve the overall user experience, are the most sophisticated Dell Technologies has ever produced. So much so, in fact, that certain myths about laptops, and their place in the workforce, need to be addressed.

Myth 1: Laptops can’t be both portable and powerful

It’s been some time since notebooks were the underpowered little siblings of workhorse laptops and today’s ultra-thin devices can take complex enterprise tasks in their stride. The Dell Pro 5 and Dell Pro 7 are significantly thinner than previous Dell Pro laptops, as well as being more powerful than their predecessors.

The Dell Pro 5 delivers better graphics performance than its Dell Pro predecessor, despite being 10% thinner. The stylish Dell Pro 7, the thinnest Dell Pro laptops, are up to 18% thinner. As a result of intense redesign efforts by Dell engineers, including redesigned batteries and panels, these laptops are thinner, lighter, and more powerful all at once.

With the Dell Pro 14 Premium the changes are even more pronounced, as the new model is 15% thinner than the previous generation, encased in a magnesium alloy chassis to be as lightweight as possible, and still configurable with up to 64GB RAM. At the same time, the Dell Pro 14 Premium has all-day battery life.

TL;DR: Dell Pro laptops have been carefully designed to hit as many user demands as possible across weight, size, and performance, for an overall better experience without compromise for the business user.

Myth 2: Laptops aren’t powerful enough for AI apps

As outlined above, Dell Pro laptops firmly debunk this myth by far exceeding the minimum requirements for most AI apps.

Microsoft requires devices to contain a neural processing unit (NPU) capable of at least 40 TOPS of computing power to run Copilot+ and the Dell Pro laptop range meets this measure across the board.

In fact, individual entries in the Dell Pro range push the bar higher on business laptop performance. With the latest AMD Ryzen™ AI PRO 400 Series and Intel® Core Ultra™ Series 3 processors available for the Dell Pro 5 and Dell Pro 7, as well as up to 64 GB of faster LPCAMM2 memory available in the Dell Pro 5, businesses can equip their workforce with laptops more than powerful enough to run the latest enterprise and AI applications.

TL;DR: Dell Pro laptops aren’t just powerful enough for AI apps, but are future-proof investments that will be able to run the next generation of AI tools.

Myth 3: Thin laptops break more easily

Though the latest Dell Pro laptops are the thinnest yet, their design and chassis composition keeps them sturdy. After all, there’s no point in a device being portable if it breaks on its way into the office.

The Dell Pro Premium is encased in a magnesium alloy chassis, combining strength and lightweight materials to protect the device from harm. Similarly, the Dell Pro 5 and Dell Pro 7 laptops come encased in sleek, aluminum chassis for standout durability, without detracting from their portability with unnecessary weight.

TL;DR: The materials and design choices used for the latest Dell Pro laptops ensure their thin and portable nature doesn’t make them weak or more prone to breakage.

Myth 4: Laptops are inherently security hazards

Since we swapped office-bound desktops for portable work laptops, security leaders have voiced their concerns about the cybersecurity risks of employees taking laptops on the go. These include potential for shoulder surfing, as well as for work devices to come into contact with malicious external devices such as infected flash drives.

A recent report by Palo Alto Networks found endpoints were the attack surface in 61% of overall breaches between October 2024 and September 2025, for example.

While these concerns are valid, not all laptops are equally vulnerable. Dell Pro laptops come with a range of built-in security features to keep sensitive information on work devices and prevent malware from using edge devices as a means to compromise entire business environments.

For example, the Dell Pro 5 comes with Dell ControlVault3+ (CV3+), a built-in security solution that takes sensitive data such as business login credentials or user biometrics and stores them on a physical chip inside the laptop.

As an added benefit, CV3+ makes use of a ‘Fingerprint Self-Learning’ algorithm to become more responsive to a user’s biometrics the more they use the finger sensor on the Dell Pro 5. This helps to ensure staff devices become more secure, not less, over time.

The Dell Pro 7, meanwhile, can be configured with a privacy screen panel, which prevents those sitting near a user – on a train journey or flight, for example – from seeing sensitive information on their screen.

As AI apps become more commonplace, Dell Pro laptops will also be able to make use of NPU-specific security features that run live, on-device security checks. For example, Dell Pro laptops can already make use of McAfee Smart AI, an AI-powered tool that alerts users to deepfakes to prevent them falling victim to sophisticated social engineering campaigns.

TL;DR: Dell Pro laptops come with built-in security features, to act as a first wave of defense ahead of organization-specific cybersecurity controls.
