Apple has long reserved the month of September for the launch of the latest iPhone. In light of the current pandemic, though, it seems this year’s iPhone unveiling may be different. According to Jon Prosser, a reliable insider at the tech giant, Apple is considering postponing the iPhone 12 launch until October due to the pandemic.
Though the unveiling is likely postponed, Prosser notes we could see an October launch event that would allow for more reporters and analysts to attend the event in person.
Based on Prosser’s knowledge, a 5.4- and 6.1-inch iPhone 12 will be revealed at the October event. The 5.4-inch model will be available with 128 GB or 256 GB of storage space, and the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro will offer 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB storage options.
When it comes to pricing, Prosser has said the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 will start from $649. The 6.1-inch iPhone 12, on the other hand, is expected to ring in at about $749.
The report also claimed both devices will support 5G connectivity. Prosser added they will also come with a dual-rear-camera setup too. The only difference between the two models will be the 6.1-inch model’s OLED display.
A postponed iPhone launch isn’t the only iPhone 12 related rumor making waves. According to industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is also reconsidering whether it will include wired EarPods with the iPhone 12. Kuo suggests that such a move would drive sales of Apple’s second-generation AirPods. Kuo also expects Apple to offer steep discounts on the wireless headphones for Christmas.
