Samsung unveils netbooks, laptops and printers at IFA

Samsung has used the IFA show in Germany to announce a flurry of new products, encompassing ultra-thin notebooks, netbooks and printers.

The company has made a strong name for itself in the netbook market with some well-reviewed models, and is now adding to that with three new units the N130, N140 and N510, which weigh in at 1.26Kg, 1.27Kg and 1.41Kg respectively.

On the aesthetic side, each offers a glossy finish and several different colours, while on the practical level each is bolstered by a claimed seven hours battery life and 11 hours for the N140. Also on offer are three USB ports, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and wireless.

The N130 and N140 feature 10.1in displays, while the N510 offers an 11.6in screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio. All use the latest LED technology, promising high visibility even in sunlight.

The new models will be arriving in this month.

Samsung isn't neglecting traditional notebooks and has announced the Intel Core 2 Duo powered X-Series, with the X520, the X420 and X120, which it said offer up to nine hours of battery life.

Lightness is once again a focus, with the X120 coming in at only 1.36Kg. All feature HDMI ports, wireless LAN, Bluetooth, three USB sockets and a 3-in-1 memory card reader.

The Samsung X120 will be available this month, with the X520 and X420 coming in October.

Finally, Samsung also presented a total of seven new printers the SCX-4600, SCX-4623F and SCX-4623FN MFPs offering up to 22ppm and the ML-2525 and ML-2580N , which are 24ppm network capable lasers for businesses. Finally, there's the ML-1910, ML-1915, which are monochrome lasers aimed at small business and home offices.

Printing from the web is a major focus of the new models, with a Print Screen' button on the printers themselves providing an easy way to print off what they see on their web browsers. Meanwhile, AnyWeb Print is intended to help users print just the parts of a web page that they need, rather the entire thing.

"These new printing devices are designed to support the priorities of users in home and small office environments, which increasingly includes conveniently printing from the internet," said Geoff Slaughter, general manager of Samsung's UK print division, in a statement.

All printer models will be available from dealers this month.
