Safari flaws hit Windows as well as Macs

Apple has released a new version of Safari to fix multiple security issues, which affected Windows computers as well as Macs.

Version 4.04 fixes vulnerabilities in Safari that affected users running it on Windows 7, Vista and XP as well as Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server.

It is unknown how severe these problems are, as Apple doesn't offer a rating like the other browser makers.

On Windows systems, ColorSync is affected, meaning a maliciously crafted image with an embedded colour profile can lead to application termination or arbitrary code execution.

For Mac and Windows, Apple fixed flaws where parsing maliciously crafted XML content could crash apps and another where using shortcut menu options within a maliciously crafted website may have lead to the disclosure of information.

There are three flaws fixed in WebKit, with one of them putting a user who accessed a maliciously crafted FTP at risk from unexpected application termination, information disclosure, or arbitrary code execution.

In more patching news, Adobe also released an update , which fixed a moderate' security issue in Adobe Photoshop versions 7 and 8. It could have allowed a user who exploited it successfully to execute arbitrary commands with elevated privileges.
