Metanoia and NXP announce integrated 5G NR Sub-6GHz platform

The joint solution is aimed at high-volume mid-band (3.3 GHz - 4.2 GHz)

Metanoia and NXP Semiconductors have signed a new pact to develop a fully functioning 5G NR Sub-6GHz Reference Platform.

The platform will enable customers to build a 5G Sub-6GHz solution spanning all 5G markets, including standalone fixed wireless access (FWA) applications, low and high-density 5G remote radio units (RRUs), and integrated 5G cells.

Metanoia's RFIC transceiver MT3812 will be incorporated into the Reference Platform, along with NXP's Layerscape family of high-performance multicore processors. The joint solution will also feature NXP’s 5G NR programmable baseband processors.

"The collaboration between NXP and Metanoia demonstrates the advanced capabilities of the Layerscape Access programmable solutions platform and underscores our commitment to advance our ecosystem-based strategy to accelerate solution-to-market," said Tareq Bustami, senior vice president and director of network edge overview at NXP Semiconductors.

"NXP offers a comprehensive portfolio of 5G NR solutions that, with the help of our partners, is accelerating the development and deployment of 5G infrastructure networks around the world."

Additionally, the Metanoia-NXP 5G NR Sub-6GHz Reference Platform facilitates the creation of software-defined radio (SDR) solutions with support for physical link layer, digital predistortion (DPD) and crest factor reduction (CFR), network offload, and more.

Cost-effective and programmable, MT3812 supports a maximum bandwidth of 200MHz in transmit and receive modes, and 400MHz in digital predistortion (DPD) mode.

A more accurate evaluation of low and high frequency bands, supported by the Metanoia MT3812, can also be achieved by bypassing appropriate RF front-end components on the reference system.

"Partnering with NXP to provide our customers with a highly optimized development platform that includes our MT3812 RF IC and demonstrating that our chips together can meet the performance requirements of 3GPP and ORAN is critical to our customers," said Didier Boivin, executive vice president of Metanoia.

"The desire to create a high level of trust in our technologies is what prompted NXP and Metanoia to work together on this combined Reference Platform.”
