Google keeps quiet on Agnilux acquisition
Mystery surrounds Google’s acquisition of US company Agnilux.
Google is being especially unforthcoming over its purchase of Agnilux, a Californian start-up which has an ex-Apple worker among its team.
Not much is known about what Agnilux does and its company website is currently down. Google, meanwhile, is holding back on revealing any details about what it plans to do with its newest acquisition. While it has confirmed the acquisition is taking place, it is refraining from making any further comment on the issue.
The New York Times reported in February that Agnilux was working on "some kind of server" and that it had a partnership established with Cisco.
A LinkedIn profile of the company's systems architect and chief operating officer Mark Hayter shows that he was a director at Apple and worked for PA Semi, which was bought by Apple in 2008.
The CrunchBase website revealed that the firm is based in San Jose, California, while one of its co-founders is John Wakerly, who previously worked at Cisco.
There was far less mystery surrounding Google's recent purchase of visual search engine Plink. The two firms will work together on developing the search engine giant's visual search tool.
