CIO Dinner – Engaging Staff & Changing Lives through CSR
Join your C-level peers and support a good cause at this dinner event on Tuesday 26 June 2012 (18:30 – 21:00, Central London)

As the economic climate continues to create a difficult working environment for many people in the Technology industry, a key focus for many companies is staff morale.
As an IT professional or business executive, Byte Night is your chance to make a difference to young people in need whilst benefiting from excellent networking opportunities. You can get involved as an individual or in a team.
Andrew Marks will be in attendance, to provide insight into some of the more innovative Social Enterprise initiatives Tullow Oil has engaged in, as it continues to grow its interests across Africa. In addition to the traditional approaches Tullow has worked hard to understand the opportunities and risks impacting the local communities it works within. As such it has adjusted its programme of social investments and support to reflect the needs of those local communities, leaving the bigger picture to the established NGOs.
Andrew will discuss some of the cultural challenges that had to be overcome for this commitment to work, and what he and his leadership have done to surmount them.
Julian Goldsmith has been a business and technology journalist for nearly 20 years. Some of the many titles he worked on include TimesOnline, silicon.com and Retail Week. Prior to joining CIO UK, he was a senior editor at BNET, a global website focusing on leadership and management issues. While he was there, he covered such thorny issues as getting your staff to believe in your management skills and why more women don't get the top jobs in business.
The CIO Network is delighted to invite you to network with your peers, and to debate the above issues. We do hope you will be able to join us for this dinner, which is also in support of Byte Night 2012.
