Samsung revamps Series 5 Ultrabook for the enterprise
Firm adds Windows 7 Professional and TPM functionality
Samsung has refreshed its Ultrabook and laptop ranges to make them more appealing to business users by shipping the devices with a 64-bit edition of Windows 7 Professional and Trusted Platform Module (TPM).
The Series 5 Ultrabook aims to address the needs of travelling business users. The 1.52kg chassis features a 13.3in anti-reflection display with 1366 x 768, is powered by an Intel Ivy Bridge i5 dual-core processor running at 1.7GHz and has 6GB of DDR3 RAM.
Other key features include 500GB hard disk and 24GB SSD to facilitate a 20 second boot up time. Samsung also claims its 4-cell battery is able to provide up to seven hours of power in conjunction with its Battery Life Plus technology.
Meanwhile, users needing a larger screen size can opt for the Series 9 laptop. This comes with the same Core i5 processor, but has 8GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD and a 15in display with 1600 x 900 resolution. The device comes with a battery life of just under eight hours.
Pricing is to be confirmed, but the devices are expected to range between 800 and 1200. There is no mention of any cut-price offer to upgrade to Windows 8 later in the year, something which other OEMs such as Acer are offering to entice users.
