Cumbrian NHS Trust completes emergency CSC Lorenzo deployment
The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust rolls out e-patient records system to another emergency department.
A Cumbrian NHS Trust has reinforced its commitment to the digitisation of patient records by deploying CSC's e-records system in one of its emergency departments.
The CSC Lorenzo system allows hospital staff to access and update patient records from any cooperating health site's system.
The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT) rolled out the system within the Royal Lancaster Infirmary's emergency department on 6 November.
The deployment was carried out in the early hours of Tuesday 6 November to minimise disruption to staff and patients.
The offering has been widely used within the Trust's wards and departments since June 2010.
In a statement, CSC said a new module had been included in the product to make it more appealing to A&E staff, providing them with faster access to data and better security.
Sir David Henshaw, UHMBT chair, said: "Making sure our doctors and nurses have the most up to date and relevant information on hand when they treat a patient is crucial to ensure we offer the best possible care to our local communities.
