Department of Veterans Affairs signs a $497M deal with Peraton

Peraton will help VA build a cohesive infrastructure-as-a-managed-service (IaaMS)

Blue US Department of Veterans Affairs sign

Peraton and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) have signed a new contract, extending their long-standing partnership.

Per the new deal, Peraton will help VA develop an enterprise-scale infrastructure-as-a-managed-service (laaMS), connecting VA’s on-premise infrastructure with VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC).

IaaMS will host up to 220 petabytes of mission-critical VA data, ranging from business operations data to medical images used in veteran care. IaaMS will also enable VA to establish a centralized service delivery model that eliminates application-specific infrastructure silos, integrates cloud-based storage capabilities, and adopts industry-best storage practices.

According to the VA, its upcoming IaaMS solution will aid storage and computing facilities in the US and abroad.

"Peraton is proud to build on our 20-year history as one of VA's technology partners. This award demonstrates Peraton's unique capabilities in health data management and storage, and deep understanding of VA's mission. Our innovative laaMS solution simplifies infrastructure consumption into an easy-to-use managed service, enabling enterprise-level transparency across clouds and facilities," Tarik Reyes, president of global health and financial solutions sector at Peraton.

Peraton will provide the VA with its services for seven years. The contract will encompass up to 300 VA sites across the continental US and abroad.

"Peraton is uniquely positioned to deliver next-generation storage capability and services to the VA and the veterans who have proudly served our country," said George Rollins, vice president of VA and defense health at Peraton.

"This is an incredible win for the team. We look forward to our continued partnership with the VA, and to helping the Department realize the expected benefits from its major modernization initiatives."
