Kyndryl to modernize IT Infrastructure for Honda's US subsidiary

IT infrastructure services provider will help Honda’s US business simplify and centralize its operations

IT infrastructure services provider Kyndryl has struck a multi-year agreement with American Honda Motor Company (AHM) to support the manufacturer’s infrastructure transformation.

Building on the pair’s existing relationship, Kyndryl will help modernize AHM’s operations across its US manufacturing plants, as well as research and development, captive finance, and sales operations.

In an announcement, the services provider said the collaboration will support the car giant’s efforts to harness its data and “bring more innovation to its customers.”

"Honda is pioneering innovation in how it leverages data for value across its organization, and we're working side by side to help them modernize their operations to deliver on this future-forward strategy," commented Matt Milton, President of Kyndryl US.

New York-headquarted Kyndryl specializes in providing IT infrastructure services to its 4,000-plus customers, across more 60 countries around the world. Last year, the provider became a fully-fledged public company following IBM’s decision to spin-off its managed infrastructure services business as an independent entity.

Back then, the firm said its vision is to be the “leading company that designs, runs and modernizes the critical technology infrastructure of the world’s most important businesses and institutions.”

With this new Honda collaboration, it appears Kyndryl is staying true to that aim. The provider will integrate an on-premises and cloud-based solution that will support the deployment of a standard platform that centralizes management of all AHM’s operations – including sales, finance, manufacturing, as well as research and development.

The pair said the aim is to boost Honda’s efficiency and resiliency across its US operations, speed up the deployment of new tech, and integrate and simplify its services catalogue.

Kyndryl will also continue to run the core infrastructure that underpins Honda US’ operations, it said.

"At a time of rapid transformation for the auto and mobility industry, we're pleased to work with Kyndryl to realize critical business transformation enabled by IT that will allow Honda to prepare for our electrified future," said Adam Sparks, Assistant Vice President of Enterprise IT Services at American Honda Motor Company.

"Kyndryl will contribute to efficiencies and competitiveness across all North America processes, which will help us establish new connected products and services."
