IBM introduces an entry level IoT course

IBM has partnered with Coursera to create an entry level course concerning the IoT

A course titled: A developer's guide to the Internet of Things (IoT)' is now being hosted on Coursera's online education platform. The course has been created by IBM as an entry level course to aid in developing solutions for the IoT.

The course has been developed amidst an increasing interest towards the Internet of Things (IoT) by any company that wishes to create a smart' device.

"In this course you will learn how to create connected solutions and leverage IoT technology and data in ways previously only available to large R&D departments," said IBM in a blog post.

The course is available to be taken at any time and from anywhere as long as you have an internet connection.

IBM has noted that to be able to take the course basic programming knowledge is assumed within the languages of Python and Javascript.

"This course takes you through a guided experience in building your first IoT solution using cool, inexpensive and easily obtained hardware like a Raspberry-Pi and SenseHat, using developer tools like Node-RED and of course, using the IBM Watson IoT Platform," IBM said. "Throughout the course, you will learn the architecture of an IoT solution, along with the design principles and concepts behind it."

On Coursera the duration of the program is listed as four weeks of work, with two to four hours of weekly commitment.

It can be taken for free or for a small price if you want certification for completing the course.
