IBM shows how to save energy the Disney way
Following the launch of its SmartPlanet initiative earlier this year, IBM has opened an exhibition at Disney to show the world how technology can make a difference.
IBM has got together with Disney to show the world how to build a "SmarterPlanet."
The tech giant launched its SmarterPlanet initiative late last year with the aim of improving efficiency not just in the data centre, but also when it comes to road traffic, city crime and even water supplies.
To push the effort further forward, it has now teamed up with Walt Disney Imagineering to build a new exhibit at Epcot in Florida, showcasing how individuals can make a difference using the technology the world offers.
"The new SmarterPlanet experience brings to life the many ways in which IBM technologies are invisibly woven into the way people live, work and play," said Gary Cohen, general manager of the Global Communications Sector at IBM, in a statement.
"The objective is for guests to walk away understanding how forward-thinking solutions can solve our greatest societal problems, and the increasing role technology will play in improving the quality of life for people across the world."
The site itself runs on a new Smarter Data Centre, which IBM claims cuts energy costs by up to 25 per cent.
