Wipro taps Oracle to digitize air cargo services

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure will aid Wipro’s CROAMIS application suite

Wipro has selected Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to support its cargo reservations, operations, accounting, and management information system (CROAMIS) application suite.

The move will enable Wipro to offer CROAMIS as part of its FullStride Cloud Services worldwide, thereby encouraging faster modernization of the air cargo industry to meet rapid transportation demands.

Among the reasons Wipro selected OCI for its application suite are superior performance, high availability, and built-in security.

Oracle Exadata Cloud Service and Oracle Exadata Database Cloud Service will be combined to offer CROAMIS as a modular SaaS solution, drawing upon OCI's flexible yet cost-effective computing infrastructure.

A further benefit will be the ability to automate the full air cargo lifecycle including, cargo capacity planning, sales, revenue management, cargo ground handling operations, warehouse management, freighter and charter operations, customer services, cargo revenue accounting, and billing.

"Global supply chain dynamics have gone through a significant transformation due to the pandemic. The gap between demand and capacity has been a serious issue during the pandemic, and this has added tremendous cost pressure on the industry," said Sanchit Vir Gogia, chief analyst, founder, and CEO of Greyhound Research.

"Moreover, the move to e-commerce demands goods to be moved quickly, which adds extra pressure on cargo operators".

Gogia added: "As a result, these operators are looking at digital technologies that allow a more unified working across the value chain and reduce administrative burden. Cloud is the natural choice for such digital transformation engagements to help improve the speed of innovation and reduce costs."

Per reports, Oracle Cloud Marketplace will offer Wipro’s CROAMIS application suite by the end of 2021.
