Mavenir has acquired communications platform as a service (CPaaS) provider Telestax for an undisclosed sum. Telestax’s acquisition will help Mavenir further enhance Mavenir Engage.

Engage, Mavenir’s cloud-based customer engagement solution, doubles as an omnichannel messaging monetization tool with rich communication services (RCS)-based business messaging, campaign management, visual flow builders, payment integrations, and advanced analytics.

A full-stack CPaaS enabler, Telestax will add new agile software as a service (SaaS) models and customize solutions for small and medium businesses. Telestax will also enable consumer-friendly APIs and web tools.

Telestax’s other notable CPaaS applications include call queuing, number masking, Cisco Message Exchange, and SMS for Microsoft Teams.

“CPaaS is the key enabling technology for our Mavenir Engage service to position Communications Service Providers (CSPs) at the forefront of the digital engagement landscape,” said Ian Maclean, senior vice president and general manager of cloud services at Mavenir.

Maclean added, “With this acquisition, Mavenir is lowering the barrier of entry and democratizing business messaging for businesses of all sizes to implement conversational commerce experiences.”

Earlier this year, Mavenir launched its BSS Digital Enablement platform to help CSPs accelerate 5G deployments. Mavenir also deployed its 4G/5G Open vRAN at O-RAN Town, Deutsche Telekom’s multi-vendor open RAN network.
