Accenture and VMware launch joint business group to aid cloud migration
The companies will also collaborate on enterprise 5G deployment
Accenture and VMware have announced a dedicated business unit focused on helping organizations migrate to the cloud.
A multiyear and multimillion-dollar investment between the two companies, the new Accenture VMware Business Group will offer dedicated professionals adept in cloud migrations, cloud-native and application modernization, and security. Approximately 2,000 Accenture cloud professionals trained in VMware products and services will also participate in the dedicated business group.
Accenture VMware Business Group’s other key objectives include investing in joint go-to-market and sales operations, training more Accenture practitioners in VMware-based technologies, and developing new services backed by VMware technologies.
“To meet the demands of today’s unprecedented business environment, organizations must employ a multi-cloud strategy — more rapidly than ever before,” said Pat Gelsinger, chief executive officer at VMware.
“Increasingly, customers are running their applications on one or more clouds, datacenters and the edge and the Accenture VMware Business Group will bring together the world-class teams and expertise required, with the speed, agility, and resilience that organizations demand, today and tomorrow.”
Accenture and VMware are also launching a dedicated VMware Cloud Migration Factory service so customers can plan, test, migrate, and modernize their applications at scale to public, private, and/or hybrid cloud in a controlled environment.

Additionally, the pair will develop vertical industry solutions, including a pre-engineered platform to help telecommunication companies deploy 5G and edge computing services.
“The pandemic brought about a new ‘next normal’ for organizations, one where they need to accelerate their use of cloud to modernize the business and serve as a foundation for innovation,” said Rick Villars, group vice president of worldwide research at IDC.
“They recognize that public, private and hybrid cloud all play a critical role in this transition and they require technology cloud partners and service providers who are able to execute the strategies and provide the skills needed to drive this transformation faster than ever before.”
