VIP to create Apple Business Unit

VIP has today announced it has added Apple products to its portfolio.

For the first time in the company’s 20 year history, VIP will distribute iMacs, iPads, iPods and Apple accessories.

VIP says its new relationship with Apple was in response, largely, to customer demand. Says Dave Stevinson, VIP’s sales director: “Historically, VIP has focused primarily on PC-related components; however our systems business has grown exponentially with core resellers asking us to broaden our offering to include the Apple products.

“We’re thrilled to be adding Apple products to our line up as well as other Mac related third-party products and accessories,” he adds. “By being able to offer resellers ASUS, MSI and Apple systems, tablets and peripherals, VIP are in a much stronger position to help these business savvy resellers leverage demand in this growing market.”

Already stocking Windows Mobile, Apple and Google Android, VIP says it plans to become a “one-stop-tablet-shop” for the channel.

However, Stevinson went on to warn resellers that the margin on Apple products is far less than that of traditional PC products.

The distributor says it plans to establish a new Apple Business Unit and is currently looking to recruit a senior business manager to head up the range.
