When you first start using BB10, this is one of the first features users should set about activating, in IT Pro's opinion, as it allows you to track down the device should it get lost or stolen.
To do this users will need to log in to the web-based BlackBerry Protect portal to find out where their smartphone is, but this will only work if the device's location settings are switched on.
The console can also be used to remotely lock and wipe devices that have fallen into the wrong hands, or set a message informing people what to do should they find your Z10.
Alternatively, if you've misplaced your device while it's set to silent, the BlackBerry Protect portal will allow you to contact the device and make it ring for up to minute to help you find it.
This feature is particularly effective and very loud, and left IT Pro's ears gently ringing for several minutes afterwards.
