US Air Force taps Novetta for base defense operations
Novetta’s defense solution connects disparate data sources to improve situational awareness
The US Air Force has enlisted Novetta's platform for integrated C3 and responsive defense (PICARD) for base military operations at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
Novetta designed PICARD to meet USAF's need for a platform to connect forces with intelligent systems for rapid decision making. By integrating internet of things (IoT) principles into sensor fusion, Novetta created a hybrid edge-cloud system that combines DevSecOps with non-traditional operational technologies, including electronic security, control, and weapons systems.
This way, PICARD uncovers data hidden in disconnected, proprietary, and legacy systems. Operators receive actionable insights regardless of where they are or how they access the data.
Thanks to its open architecture, the platform seamlessly integrates with sensors, control systems, connected devices, weapons systems, and more.
"It has been a pleasure seeing the partnership between our team and the Air Force yield truly transformative results," said Kevin Heald, senior vice president of information exploitation at Novetta.
"PICARD is a key part of a grander vision to contribute to the Air Force Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) and the DoD Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) initiatives."

Per reports, the Air Force will extend PICARD to 11 military bases by 2022 and across the entire branch by 2026.
